This blog has started a random picture challenge so I thought I would join in the fun. Every Saturday she will give you a month, year, and picture number to post! Super easy, and fun to see what you come across.

This week:

Picture 44
Here is my Christmas tree. Somthing we missed dearly this past Christmas. We try to get it up during the weekend after Thanksgiving. There is something about a lighted Christmas tree. I can stare at them all day....so beautiful!

Before and After

Part of the reason that we started looking for a new house was last summer we spent most of our days at a public pool. So we thought it would be nice to have a house with a pool. Our new home had one, but it was falling apart, and it had no fence (a definite must in my book!). So shortly after we moved in, Shawn got on the phone and had loads of people coming by to give bids on changing it up.

The major problem was the majority of the pool had a pebble tec bond beam instead of cool decking. That pebble tec had started to chip away and was an eye sore.
After much debate we added about 2 feet cool deck around the whole pool, and then filled in one of the grass areas with more cool deck, and also added a fire pit. We had to endure many mornings waking up to the sound of a jackhammer, but I have to say I am happy with the results.

Now our kids REALLY can't wait for the coming summer.

Really???

Is there really something about this sleeper that cries out "I'm a girl"?? Whenever Thomas has this on people always refer to him as a her. It is blue and it has doggies on it...the only thing I could think of is the dragonflys. I don't really care, but it is strange to me because I don't think he looks like a girl at all!

Also...is there anything else you notice about this picture???

MLK Day

Our holiday started bright and early. We woke the kids up and whisked them away on this...To spend a day trip with these fun peopleIt was fun to see all the new decorations for their new theme "It's time to celebrate"
It wasn't too crowded so we were able to enjoy alot of the rides without having to wait too long in line. We had our fun and came home so that Shawn could make it off to Vegas for a work conference this morning. I have to say I am thankful for the blessing of flight benefits. It made for a long day, but the kids had a ton of fun...can't you tell??I think we are going to love having the annual passports. Here's to a year of visiting the Happiest place on earth!

December Observations

Dear Lady,

Looking back on this last month, you sure had a crazy one.

I still don't know how you managed to come home from a vacation on Sunday, and then move the very next day! You guys were very sneaky, and got a friend to clean the carpets, and even paint a few rooms while you were away. I guess you could have gotten in big trouble because "technically" you didn't actually own me yet...but it sure was nice having that done before all the junk you have accumulated was moved in.

You didn't spend much time with me those first few days. I guess you were too busy 'beautifying' your 'old' house (coined phrase by Caden & Sydney). I heard that you had renters moving in that one that coming weekend. I don't think you even unpacked anything for days. You came home exhausted from scrubbing walls, and cleaning floors...who knew a place could get so dirty. I guess that happens when you are moving. Some things just don't get kept up.

I saw you did whatever it took to keep the little man happy. It must have been hard trying to accomplish what you needed to do with him always wanting your attention. Somehow he got one of the kids to share an OREO with him. Atleast it kept him quiet for a little while. :)After that first weekend things seem to settle a bit. You finally started filling my cupboards, arranging furniture, hanging clothes, and putting together beds. I still can't believe that it took you a week to get a refrigerator, washer, and dryer...but I see that the wait was well worth it. You seemed shocked that the husband was willing to get them, but also very grateful & excited.
The husband also wasted no time in getting contractors in to fix the pool. People were in and out of the backyard for weeks. It was a big job, but the little ones are getting excited for the summer to come. Luckily the fence guy is coming to install the gate tomorrow....you will finally be able to send the kids outside to play.

By the time you were able to have time to put up your Christmas tree there was only about a week left. I didn't blame you for only pulling out the 3 1/2 ft tree that you and the husband had for your first Christmas as newlyweds. The little boy wasn't very happy about it, but in the end it was okay.

Your first sunday in 'the new ward' was pretty fun. You were constantly referred to as "Nancy's sister." People say you guys sound/talk the same. There are alot of young families, so the boy and girl will have lots of new friends to make. There also seems to be about 10 babies that are all 6 months old...so the little man will have alot of new friends too. You and the husband seem hopeful for the new ward. They did manage to banish you to the nursery after only being there a week!...atleast you were able to work out a deal. You are in charge of 'music time' and have been able to get that done before the women meet together for Relief Society. Now if only you can get the little man to cooperate, maybe then you can actually make it through a whole meeting!
Christmas Eve seemed eventful. You and your family left and went to the Brunson's and enjoyed time with the cousins. The kids were excited with all the fun stuff that you brought home. They were so cute in their jammies. Too bad you felt terrible....allergies are always so aweful around the holidays! In the morning the kids were surprised to find the loot that Santa left. The girl was so happy with her 'Cinderlella dolly' and the boy was excited to FINALLY get a Webkinz. The girl also seemed to get alot of Ariel stuff...I think that she really likes that mermaid. The little man was happy with the new Leap Frog toy. He sure like to jam to the music that comes out of it. It is fun to watch all of you giggle at his new found skills of dancing.
Soon you were off to go visit the husband's dad. He always has a great breakfast on Christmas morning. The kids love visiting with Grandpa. You even managed to squeeze in a family photo while there.
Then off to your side of the family....that always invovles craziness. The house is always full with many people. The kids run around making as much noise as possible. They don't eat much, and can't wait to open the presents. Then somehow you managed to make it over the the Great Grandparents for a visit! It is always alot of fun, but you always seem to come home exhausted from the days activities.

A few days later, some of the husbands highschool friends were in town. They all met up here for lunch while the kids terrorized the house. The girl made fast friends with Becca. If only Becca didn't live in Texas our days would be filled with non stop dress up fun!
I was surprised when you woke up the next morning with a sore throat. You tried to ignore it, but finally made a trip to urgent care. Turns out you got Strep throat (I hope no one else got sick)! The girl was playing with camera while waiting to talk to the doctor...you sure look lovely. :) It turns out that you probably caught it from the that came to church the week before! (Why the heck do you leave your house when you know you have something, and haven't gotten antibiotics to treat it!...especially if you will be in close contact with little kids!) Anyhoo, you got some lovely medicine and was feeling better in no time.
The New Year was drawing close, and you and husband hadn't really made any plans. You were going to invite people over, but decided not to. Luckily some of the new friends you made at church called at the last minute, and invited you and the family over for a shindig. You rang in the New Year "New York" style, and if I remember correctly was asleep before it was actually midnight here in AZ. Man...you are getting old.

Things are looking hopeful here. You are starting to pull yourself together, and trying to make this house into a home. It is a little harder when you have those three rascals tearing up the place, but you are doing your best. Now you just need to convince your husband that we really need that furniture that we found. I know it will look just lovely when it gets delivered. :) Just take your time and before you know it...I will be beautiful. It certainly has been fun getting to know you.
Love,
Your "New" House

In the meantime...

I realize some of you are going through withdrawls...wink wink. I have been otherwise occupied with the house. It has been quite overwhelming. I realize I have no idea how to decorate, and have no idea where to start. Does anyone want to render their services, and help me decide how to decorate??? (aka...Tammy do you have any free time) :) I think things are finally starting to settle down, but now I feel like I have a novel to write to catch up on everything. So please bear with me.

In the meantime enjoy this clip of Sydney's dance recital. I personally think that it is the cutest thing ever. She is watching her teacher in front of her in order to know what to do. There is a part where she is supposed to turn around...and well...you will get it. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as I do.
