Sweetness
Every Wednesday, I meet my good friend Melanie at McDonalds. The kids have fun playing together, and we get to chat. She was in my ward until it dissolved...so this is the only time we get to catch up. Well yesterday we decided to go to a local splash pad instead. She and Kim were meeting down there around 10 am, and I was going to get there as soon as I could. Well...it ended up being later than I had hoped, and by the time I got there...they were leaving. :( It wasn't that big a deal though. (Maybe next time! :) Anyway, I am glad that I ended up staying anyways because it presented a moment that will forever be burned in my heart.
First, I want you to look at these pictures. Notice the pure look of joy on my little boys face. He was genuinely happy. Now the story as to what was happening while I was taking these is to follow.
Caden: Mom, wasn't that boy funny?
Me: Yes he was. Did you have fun?
Caden: Yes Mom, He was so funny! He made my heart laugh!
So many times I think I can have a heavy outlook on the things that are happening in my life. I hope I can find joy in more of the simple things in life, and let my 'heart' laugh more. I have a feeling with this boy in my life...it won't be as hard as I think.
20 people know I LOVE comments!:
That is such a cute conversation! I have definitely felt my heart laugh and smile when watching my kiddos. He got that feeling right on.
That is so sweet! I feel so much better when my heart is much lighter too. He definetly has the right idea.
I was so bummed that you didn't make it in time, so we could chat. Hopefully we will have more times this summer with going to the pool.
totally cute boy! and love that his heart laughs, and he recognized it. SO CUTE! way fun!
Where is this local splash pad? Is it close by? You've been holding out on me!
What a profound statement! I think I need to make my heart live and laugh more often!
We learn so much about life from our children. Don't we?
That is simply one of the sweetest things I've ever heard!
What a sweet post and what wisdom in a child. Thanks for sharing.
I love that kid. He is hilarious!
That is adorable. I am so glad that you went to play at the water park. I was going to go until I realized that Nathan and Emma had swimming lessons and we would not make it back in time. One of these days we should go together. Nathan still talks about Caden being in his swimming class. I miss seeing you already.
I tend to have that "heavy outlook" on life, too, but I think I'm trying to enjoy my kids now more than I ever did when they were younger. It is so fun to watch them find joy in life.
What a great story!! Your little Caden sounds like a cute little guy! I should for sure be more like him and try to make my heart laugh more often (or at least recognize the moments when it is laughing!!)
Sooo cute! I love the things little kids say!
Great life moment! I'll remember it and have my heart laugh too.
How sweet! You will have to tell us where the splash pad is!
Awww "made my heart laugh" what a comment for one so young!
That seriously brought tears to my eyes...I just love how innocent and happy little kids are. They truly feel things that I think we adults forget to feel as we get older. Thanks for sharing!
YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!Tell us where this place is!!! He is such a cute kid! I love how their innocence makes us realize/remember what is truly important in life!
I really miss those splash pads. Ethan had such a great time there when we lived there--plus they are free.
