Doctors
Back in December when I called our Pediatrician's office to set up Sydney's 15 month appointment I was hit with the news that the Pediatrician that my children always see was leaving their office. I was so bummed because I really liked her. She was the only doctor that my children have ever seen. I was just comfortable with her, and liked the rapport that we had together. They said they would have information as to where she was going to in the near future. I set up Sydney's 15 month appt. at our original office just so she wouldn't miss a check up. In the meantime, I continued to call until they had the information as to where Dr. M would be.
Finally they had the information. The only problem was that the office that she was now going to be practicing at was a considerable distance from our house. I went back and forth as to what we should do. I liked the Pediatrician's office that we were currently at....I actually went there as a child, hence the reason why I chose them in the first place. At the same time, I was attached to Dr. M. In January, I took Syd to her 15 month. The doctor that we had the appointment with was still a great doctor, but I left missing Dr. M.
After much thought, going back and forth, and talking it over with Shawn I decided that the drive to go see Dr. M was worth it. The nice thing is her new office is not too far from my sister so I can atleast make a stop and visit with her too. I called and set up Sydney's 18 month appointment with Dr. M. which happened to be yesterday.
It is funny how excited I was to take Syd. The new office is great, and I think that it is going to work out. Sydney now weighs 24 lbs 12 oz, and is about 31 inches tall. She is in the 25% and 17%. It is strange to have a child that is small for her age. Caden was always, and is still off the charts...he has always been a big boy.
Anyway, it was great to see Dr. M again. I am glad that my kids are still able to go to a doctor that they know and love. I don't know why I felt that way...I mean a doctor is a doctor right? Would you drive a greater distance just to see a certain doctor or am I just being silly?
3 people know I LOVE comments!:
I don't think you are being silly at all. I have had the same primary pediatrician for the last almost-eight years, and I am always bummed when we have to see someone else.
Ps - I have very tall and skinny kids. My oldest was always in the 3-5% for weight and 90-95% for height as a baby. She's still thin, but at least she's not towering over us yet. My youngest is actually the "chunk" of the family, relative to the other two. At her 18 month checkup (3 months ago), she had not yet reached 20 pounds!
Not silly AT ALL! My husbands family has had the same doctor for 30 years.
All my girls were top of the chart. My five year old is off the chart, my doctor suggested a basketball scholarship.
Funny, because I am 5'2.
My hubby is 6'3
Definitely NOT silly! A pediatrician you know and trust is priceless if you ask me!
Isn't that funny how two siblings can be soooo different? The older of my two boys was 95%+ for his first year and a half. The younger, as the doctor put it, "clinging to the bottom of the chart by his fingernails". Now they're 6 and 4, and both fall about 50%.
